 Who We Are

-- juneschiller_edited_edited.png

Hello.

I'm June Schiller, Co-Chairperson for the Palo Alto Auxiliary.

My Story

I joined the Palo Alto Auxiliary in 1972, working as a cook on Thursdays. My family included Clarke,
my husband for more than sixty years; two sons, two daughters-in-law, and two grandchildren.

After returning to teaching and administration in the Palo Alto Unified School District, I continued to support the Auxiliary. I taught every grade from pre-school through junior college, served as an elemen-tary principal, and concluded my career as Director of Building Development for a school district-wide renovation project. Upon retirement, I became a Thursday server and served as Palo Alto Auxiliary's Treasurer and VP for Membership.

I enjoy dinner with my family every Monday night, as well as gardening, reading, bridge, and baking.

I'm always looking for new and exciting opportunities; let's connect!

Hi.

I'm Ellen Smith, also a Co-Chairperson for the Palo Alto Auxiliary.

About Me

I joined Palo Alto Auxiliary in 1980 and worked as a Tuesday server for a few years until my full-time
job required me to go inactive.  I filled in from time to time when needed and continued as inactive until
I retired in 2009 and returned to active status.  I've been involved in many projects, specifically sewing projects for children in the hospital and for the Teen Van.

Providing care and concern to ease the stress of hospitalized children brings a feeling of joy and service that enrich many lives.

I can be reached at ellensmith94022@gmail.com.

Nice to meet you.

My name's Marilyn Anderson and I'm the PAA Treasurer.

A Little Bit About Me

I joined PAA in 2007. My husband and I, Arden, have been supporters and volunteers of LPCH since our grandson had brain surgery in 1994 and our granddaughter had a liver transplant in 1995. Our whole family is forever grateful for the excellent care our children received. Currently, two Anderson daughters work at the hospital.

For 30 years, prior to retirement in 2014, I was the executive director of the California Family Foun-dation, based in Palo Alto, and worked primarily in the areas of education and housing for underserved families. My hobbies include sewing, baking, gardening and enjoying our 11 grandchildren.

Hello.

I'm Nancy Larsson and I'm PAA's Project Chairperson.

What About Me?

I've been the president of PAA for 3 years, as well as the president of the greater Association of Auxiliaries for Children from 2018-2021.

I love to spend time with my family, friends, garden and books... although my passion for travel is tempered a bit now that the grandchildren have arrived!

Hi.

I'm Sarah Beetem, and I serve as PAA's Communications Chair.

Why I'm Here.

I joined in 2005 while teaching elementary school. Having served in many Board positions, I now help PAA communicate with members and the public. I like helping sick children as I once enjoyed helping my students. I also organize the silent auction for the Summer Garden Party.

I enjoy traveling, quilting, reading, researching genealogy and gardening, especially with my grandchildren.

If you have any questions or just want to chat, you can reach me at sgbeetem@gmail.com.

Great to meet you.

I'm Sueellen Alvarez, PAA's Membership Chair.
